A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to support students in a specialized educational setting focused on individuals with significant needs. This role serves students across multiple grade levelsgrades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12in a year-round private school that provides tailored instruction for learners with Level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
Located in Ballston Spa, NY, this contract position offers consistent hours from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday, beginning ASAP through the end of the school year. The school accommodates approximately 78 students across 10 self-contained classrooms designed with an 8:1:3 staff-to-student ratio, ensuring focused attention and support. Most students use alternative communication methods and are non-verbal, making your expertise in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) techniques invaluable.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized speech and language therapy tailored to the unique needs of students with severe disabilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including educators and behavioral specialists to develop effective communication goals
- Utilize and support alternative communication systems and strategies to maximize student participation and engagement
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and therapy outcomes
- Work within a dedicated therapy space that supports focused intervention delivery for ages 5 to 21
Desired Qualifications/Experience
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders, severe cognitive disabilities, and complex communication needs
- Proficiency in AAC tools and strategies
- Ability to work effectively within a specialized, collaborative educational environment
